[:de]Bahnhöfe stehen seit jeher für „melting pots“ von Menschen, Kulturen, Religionen, Vergangenheit und Zukunft. Mit dem Aufkommen der Industrialisierung Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts entwickelten sich die einst unscheinbaren Gebäude zu eindrucksvollen, innovativen Repräsentanten der Stadt. Neben ihrer wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung erfüllten sie rückbesinnend auch notwendig gewordene soziale Bedürfnisse und Zwänge. Reisen, dem Alltag entfliehen und Neues kennenlernen, emotionale und geografische Grenzüberschreitungen wurden unabhängig von einst höfischer „Erlaubnis“ möglich und betonten ein neues Gefühl der Freiheit und Selbstbestimmung. Doch wie wird unsere eigene Identität durch diese Mobilität beeinflusst, wo können wir uns neu verorten und wie neu orientieren, um die Idee von Europa aktiv zu leben? 

Im Rahmen unsere europäischen Projektes Rail2Dance, unterstützt durch den European Creativ Fund, wollen wir alle ankommenden Reisende in Chemnitz willkommen heißen! In Form von einem Flashmob haben wir Jung und Alt mobilisiert, tänzerisch das einstige, faszinierende Flair früherer Zeiten in die eher tristen Bahnhöfe von heute zu holen.

With the advent of industrialization in the mid-19th century, the once inconspicuous buildings developed into impressive, innovative representatives of the city. In addition to their economic importance, they retroactively fulfilled social needs and constraints that had become necessary. Travel, escape from everyday life and get to know new things, emotional and geographical border crossings became possible independent of once courtly „permission“ and emphasized a new sense of freedom and self-determination. But how is our own identity influenced by this mobility, where can we re-locate ourselves and how can we reorient ourselves to actively live the idea of Europe?

In the context of our European project Rail2Dance, supported by the European Creative Fund, we want to welcome all arriving travellers in Chemnitz! In the form of a flashmob, we mobilized young and old to bring the fascinating flair of former times into the rather dull train stations of today.
