Foundation and history

In June 2020, the TANZbüro opened in Chemnitz. It sees itself as a meeting point, information and coordination center for all those interested in dance and dance professionals in Chemnitz and the region. The project was initiated by the Förderverein für zeitgenössischen Tanz: TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ e.V. – and was made possible thanks to concept funding from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony as well as the Kulturbetrieb and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.

The TANZbüro networks various dance initiatives, organizes lectures, coordinates dance in public spaces and supervises the international festival TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ and other projects.

At the same time, the TANZbüro offers a wide range of information and advice:

  • Dance schools in Chemnitz and the region
  • Networking opportunities between dancers and actors in the dance and theater sector
  • On the topic of project financing
  • Specialist literature in the field of dance and dance education

Health prevention is also an essential part of the TANZbüro offer. We use Gyrotonic, a unique movement method that addresses the entire body, opens up energy pathways, stimulates the nervous system and increases the range of movement and functional strength. This offer is suitable for dancers, top athletes and all people who have to recover from an injury or live with a disability.
