Founded as an initiative rooted in the idea of Chemnitz as a City of Modernity, TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ connects local communities with international dance artists and institutions. Its work spans professional productions, public-space performances, education programmes, health and inclusion initiatives, and long-term artistic development.

WHAT WE DO

TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ develops, presents and promotes contemporary and urban dance in Chemnitz and beyond, working at the intersection of artistic creation, international exchange, education, health and social participation. Our activities bring together professional artists, local communities and international partners.

Through performances, festivals, residencies, workshops, and inclusive programmes, we create spaces for artistic research, learning, dialogue, and social connection.

1. Artistic creation and presentation through the annual TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ Festival and curated event formats
2. International exchange & residencies, supporting research, production, and long-term artistic development
3. Education and workshops for professionals, emerging artists and interested audiences Community and health-oriented programs for all generations that promote access, inclusion and participation
4. Institutional development through the TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ Zentrum as a long-term home for contemporary dance
