In June 2019, the TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ e.V. association for contemporary dance in Chemnitz was founded after the international festival TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ had become an important part of the dance scene in the cultural life of the city of Chemnitz since 2015. In the same year, the association received a three-year concept grant from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and was able to open the first TANZbüro in Chemnitz in June 2020 despite the pandemic. It serves as a meeting point, information, and coordination center for all dance enthusiasts and practitioners in Chemnitz and the region and has been funded by the cultural operations of the city of Chemnitz since the end of the conceptual funding. The TANZbüro networks various dance initiatives, organizes lectures, coordinates dance in public spaces, and hosts the annual international festival TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ.
