SALTARINES – CIE SAMUEL MATHIEU (FR)

In this dance piece by Samuel Mathieu and Fabienne Donnio, the boundaries between dance and circus, between the fine codes of ballet and the lively movements of acrobatics, disappear, but not without celebrating them impressively. Eleven dancers unleash a mass movement that becomes ecstatic and at the same time questions traditional gender roles and artistic conventions. The result is a moving flight of fancy that, in the spirit of the Saltarines – known for their leaps and virtuosity – is like a rebellion, an act of artistic and physical liberation. With his company, Samuel Mathieu has been successfully exploring the dimensions of contemporary dance for many years.
