[:en]Mit einem Zusammenschnitt ganz unterschiedlicher Tanzstücke präsentiert die führende zeitgenössische Company Jamaikas ein breites Spektrum karibischer Kultur. Während „Cho Rockstone“ von den Anstrengungen erzählt, gegen Vorurteile anzukämpfen, wird „Satta“ zur sinnlichen Hommage an die Urfrauen, die ihre Kraft von den Orisha-Göttern der ägyptischen Yoruba beziehen, und das abstrakte „B.P.M.“ spielt mit der Dynamik der Bewegung. Ein facettenreiches Programm voller Temperament – so steht das Ensemble um Gründerin Dr. L’Antoinette Stines seit über 40 Jahren für die Entwicklung des Tanzes in der Karibik.

A project within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament and by federal funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

[:en]With a compilation of diverse dance pieces, Jamaica’s leading contemporary dance company presents a broad spectrum of Caribbean culture. While ‘Cho Rockstone’ tells of the efforts to fight prejudice, “Satta” is a sensual homage to the ancient women who draw their strength from the Orisha gods of the Egyptian Yoruba, and the abstract ‘B.P.M.’ plays with the dynamics of movement. The ensemble, led by founder Dr. L’Antoinette Stines, has been a driving force in the development of dance in the Caribbean for over 40 years, presenting a multifaceted, temperamental program.
