Fabien Prioville Dance Company – Power Moves – Restaged
September 19 | 8:00 PM - 21:00

In urban dance, „power moves“ are the movements used in battles to impress the competition and the audience. They bear witness to a self-empowerment that also arises from the power of expression and gives strong visibility to the individual performance. In this way, the dancers develop their own creativity, quite naturally include questions about the bodily expression of gender in their performances, blend different styles, and thus create a fascinating movement vocabulary. The contemporary dance production combines these „power moves“ into a full-length choreography, effortlessly bridging—simply through its title—current events in which the portrayal of power and movement is taking on a new relevance.
Fabien Prioville completed his studies at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers. He worked with Édouard Lock in Canada and became a member of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in 1999. Since 2006, he has been a freelance dancer and choreographer, working with Josef Nadj and Davis Freeman, among others. His commissioned works have taken him to New York and Japan. The Fabien Prioville Dance Company (FPDC) was founded in 2010 by him and cultural manager Alexandra Schmidt. Since then, the company has created at least one new production every year, with most of the world premieres taking place at tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf. The works of the FPDC have been successfully toured worldwide.
