[:de]Die Performances von Panama Pictures agieren an der Schnittstelle von Tanz und Zirkus. Mühelos verschmelzen die Disziplinen – so auch bei „Into Thin Air“: Gestrandet auf einer krummen Treppe, schweben drei Performer im Raum. Sie sind auf sich selbst und aufeinander angewiesen. In einem Moment rutschen sie fast die Treppe hinunter, im nächsten gewinnen sie ihr Gleichgewicht zurück und erkunden die Grenzen dieses Raums ohne Halt, bis die Schwerkraft aufgehoben wird und ihre Körper scheinbar zu schweben beginnen. So entstehen ein spannendes Spiel der Körper und die Bewegung tritt in einen anspruchsvollen Dialog mit architektonischen Kulissen. Die von dem ständigen Designer Sammy Van den Heuvel geschaffenen Objekte und Räume schaffen nicht nur die Atmosphäre, sondern fordern, behindern und motivieren auch die Darsteller. Die Tänzer und Akrobaten von Panama Pictures gehen an die Grenzen des Machbaren und machen ihr Körpergefühl für das Publikum spürbar.

Ebenso bei „Stripped“, dem intimen Porträt eines Mannes, der seiner Identität nachspürt. Im Dialog mit sich selbst und dem Publikum legt er Schicht für Schicht verschiedene Aspekte seines Charakters frei. Die Luftgurte dienen als Erweiterung seines Körpers, als Einschränkung, aber auch als Schritt in eine andere Realität. Der Luftgurtkünstler Tarek Rammo stand im Mittelpunkt des künstlerischen Prozesses. Seine Persönlichkeit, sein Hintergrund und seine Beziehung zu seiner Disziplin waren der Ausgangspunkt für diese Kreation.

The choreographer Pia Meuthen findet ihre Inspiration in Literatur und Philosophie und setzt sie dann in poetische Bilder um. Die Performances entstehen durch Improvisation auf der Grundlage gründlicher Recherche und werden von den charismatischen Darstellern getragen – einem Team aus internationalen Tänzern und Zirkusartisten unterschiedlichen Alters und Hintergrunds. Panama Pictures ist in den Niederlanden beheimatet und ist sowohl national als auch international bekannt. Die Kompanie ist ein gern gesehener Gast bei Festivals in Ländern wie Deutschland, Polen, Russland, Norwegen, Spanien, Indonesien, Malaysia und China.

The disciplines merge effortlessly – as in „Into Thin Air“: stranded on a crooked staircase, three performers float in space. They rely on themselves and on each other. One moment they almost slide down the stairs, the next they regain their balance and explore the boundaries of this space without a foothold, until gravity is suspended and their bodies seemingly begin to float. This creates an exciting play of bodies and movement, and enters into a sophisticated dialogue with architectural backdrops. The objects and spaces created by permanent designer Sammy Van den Heuvel not only create the atmosphere, but also challenge, hinder and motivate the performers. Panama Pictures‘ dancers and acrobats push the envelope and make their physical sensations palpable to the audience.

Likewise in „Stripped,“ the intimate portrait of a man tracing his identity. In dialogue with himself and the audience, he uncovers layer after layer the different aspects of his character. The air belts serve as an extension of his body, a restriction, but also a step into another reality. The air belt artist Tarek Rammo was at the center of the artistic process. His personality, background and relationship to his discipline were the starting point for this creation.

Choreographer Pia Meuthen finds her inspiration in literature and philosophy and then translates it into poetic images. The performances are created through improvisation based on thorough research and are carried by the charismatic performers – a team of international dancers and circus artists of different ages and backgrounds. Panama Pictures is based in the Netherlands and is known both nationally and internationally. The company is a welcome guest at festivals in countries such as Germany, Poland, Russia, Norway, Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia and China.
