Who are we?
This initiative was founded based on the idea of Chemnitz as a city of modernity. The center's work includes professional dance productions, support for long-term artistic development, educational programs and health and inclusion initiatives.
TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ develops, presents and promotes contemporary and urban dance in Chemnitz and beyond. Our activities bring together professional artists, local communities and international partners. Through Performances, Festivals, Residences, Workshops and inclusive programs, we create spaces for artistic research, learning, dialogue and social connection.
Buero
The TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ office coordinates educational, participatory and health-oriented dance programs to make contemporary dance accessible and inclusive, to promote audience development and to firmly anchor dance in the cultural life of the city.
Zentrum
In planningThe European Choreographic Center offers an umbrella for dance for very different target groups, such as professional artists, up-and-coming talent and the wider public. It offers residencies, an intergenerational dance program, inclusive courses and a performance and excellence center for urban dance.
Festival
The annual TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ festival brings together international dance and urban culture in public spaces. Site-specific and participatory performances, workshops and community events bring dance and urban culture together in Chemnitz.
Support Organization
The projects are supported by TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ e.V., the association for the promotion of contemporary and urban dance in Chemnitz and the surrounding area. The association has set itself the goal of promoting art and culture, education, international understanding, tolerance and cultural exchange through dance.
