2025 Residenz I: Showing: Nitsan Margaliot Dance – Wunderwelt

Wunderwelt is a choreographic performance for children aged 3 to 5. Inspired by Oskar Schlemmer's geometric costumes and Jean Tinguely's kinetic sculptures, the piece transforms abstract shapes into a playful, immersive world of movement, sound, and color. In collaboration with designer Kaur R. Hensel, two dancers move in vibrant, sculptural costumes that evolve into a dynamic scenography, inviting the young audience to move through changing forms and playful soundscapes. Gradually, the feeling of the unknown transforms into a wondrous experience.
Nitsan Margaliot lives and works as a choreographer and dancer in Berlin. His artistic practice is dedicated to subtle absences, combines absurdity with poetry, and creates continuity within the fragmented moment of the present. He completed an MFA in Dance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His work has been presented at The 5th Floor Tokyo, 14 Street Y NYC, the Archiv der Avantgarden Egidio Marzona, the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Radialsystem, Berliner Festspiele, and Frankfurt LAB, among others. From 2022 to 2024, he was co-curator of the ACROSS Festival and various exhibitions at Galerie Wedding. In 2025, he created BACK TO YOU, a full-length piece for the dance company of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. In addition, in 2025/26 he was an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, supported by the Bureau du théâtre et de la danse of the Institut français Germany.
