SHOWCASE VI – HoME
Ballett Chemnitz
15. June 2023 | 19:30 Uhr - 20:30 Uhr
18,00€Israeli-born choreographer Yaron Shamir embarks on a search for home with the juniors of the Chemnitz Ballet. Is it necessarily the area where we grew up or do, we rather associate it with a certain feeling, a special atmosphere or environment? What makes a place a home? And do we really only know this when we leave home and homesickness or longing sets in? The young dancers have brought their own experiences and emotions to this moving exploration – many of them engaged in a foreign country for the first time, on their way to an unpredictable professional future.
Yaron Shamir has been working as a choreographer since 2009, leading workshops at international stages and festivals worldwide. His first own pieces “There Is Love” and “Thin Nice” received national attention in Israel, but he became internationally known in 2010 with “Frozen”. Invitations to festivals and competitions in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Copenhagen, Zurich and Berlin followed. Collaborations brought engagements as guest choreographer at the Hanover State Opera (“Into The Flash”, 2017) and at the Reutlingen Theater “Die Tonne” (“Dream.F.H”, 2018). In 2014, with the support of the Israeli Embassy, she created the piece “Last Links” and, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Korea, the production “UseYourName”.
